Payroll Coordinator: Your day-to-day responsibilities

Payroll Administration

Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will:

  • Manage the complete weekly payroll cycle, including the validation of hours worked, wage rates, premiums, and payroll deductions.
  • Process all mandatory payroll remittances, including source deductions, CNESST, CCQ, group insurance, retirement savings plans, and other required remittances, while preparing reports for the appropriate authorities.
  • Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs), T4 slips, Relevé 1 slips, and other year-end tax documents.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including new hires, salary changes, and employment terminations, while ensuring payroll compliance.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes while staying current with legislative and regulatory requirements.

General Accounting Support

  • Record payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll and statutory accounts.
  • Assist with day-to-day general accounting activities as required.
  • Support year-end financial reporting and annual audit preparation.

Wage Subsidy Administration

  • Identify applicable wage subsidy programs.
  • Prepare and submit wage subsidy applications for eligible employees.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of relevant payroll administration experience.
  • College diploma (DEC) in Accounting and Management or an equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations, including employment standards, source deductions, government remittances, and CCQ requirements. Experience with CCQ payroll is considered an asset.
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A compliance-focused mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
