Built in the early 1960s, the À-La-Claire-Fontaine pool at Victoria Park and its service building had reached the end of their useful life. The project aimed to completely renew these iconic Sherbrooke facilities by constructing a new pool, a service building, and a splash pad area, creating an updated space for families and citizens alike.
The challenge
The limited space on the job site and the project schedule required the construction of the pool and the service building to proceed simultaneously. During the project, changes to the scope also necessitated adjustments to certain work sequences and required concrete pouring to be carried out under winter conditions.
Our approach
To keep the project on track, the teams relied on close coordination with the thirty or so specialized contractors involved and on planning adapted to the conditions encountered. For winter work, the choice of admixtures, the use of insulating blankets and heating systems, and careful monitoring of curing temperatures made it possible to create the conditions necessary for compliant execution.
Results
In the summer of 2024, Victoria Park unveiled fully renovated aquatic facilities tailored to modern needs. The new pool, splash pad, and service building have breathed new life into this community hub, providing residents with a space reimagined for years to come.
