Le Salésien
Developed in collaboration with Le Salésien high school, the Connexion project integrates existing facilities while adding new spaces to the students' daily lives. Spread over three levels, the building houses laboratories and classrooms, offices, a cafeteria, and a new gymnasium. At the heart of the project, an interior courtyard completes the complex, creating a new gathering place at the center of the school.

The challenge
Building between existing structures at an active school meant balancing two very different daily realities. Connecting to the various utility systems had to be done without unnecessarily disrupting classes and activities, all while working within an extremely tight construction site. Every step of the process required careful sequencing to maintain safe access and minimize the impact on school life.
Our approach
To keep the project on schedule while respecting the school's rhythm, planning was carried out in close collaboration with Le Salésien. Any work likely to impact school activities was anticipated and communicated regularly, allowing construction sequences to be adjusted based on the client's needs. Work in existing spaces was consolidated to minimize duration, while temporary partitions and construction zones were relocated as the project progressed. This flexible approach allowed the construction site to evolve around the life of the school, rather than the other way around.

Our sustainable solutions

Giving existing spaces a second life

Rather than opting for a systematic replacement, a portion of the existing brick was carefully cleaned for reuse in the project. This is a practical way to preserve materials already on-site and reduce the need for new resources.

Reducing the carbon footprint of concrete

Low-carbon concrete was incorporated into the project to reduce the environmental footprint associated with this widely used construction material, while still meeting the building's technical requirements.

Recover instead of discarding

With a waste diversion rate of 84.09%, the project successfully kept a significant portion of materials out of landfills through sorting and recovery.

Results
Delivered on time and on budget, the Connexion project now truly lives up to its name. The new building bridges the gap between the existing Salésien facilities while adding spaces that enrich the student experience, from the laboratory and gymnasium to the cafeteria and the inner courtyard. This project was built in close collaboration with the school, from the initial blueprints to the moment students first stepped into their new spaces.
