Since its founding, HUDL has grown within Quebec’s construction industry with rigor and vision. This timeline highlights the key milestones of our growth, our landmark projects, and our commitment to building strong, sustainable environments that create lasting impact.

1979

It begins here

Construction Gérard Allard Inc. is founded. Jean-Paul Longchamps is already part of the journey as a foreman. At the time, the company builds catalog homes.

1981

First major public projects

Our first major public projects take shape, including the Saint-Élie-d’Orford town hall and community center. A key milestone in our growth as a general contractor.

1981

New major shareholder

Jean-Paul Longchamps becomes majority shareholder. Jean-Guy Auger joins him. Together, they lay the foundation for a company guided by collaboration and field expertise.

1983

Construction Longer

Construction Gérard Allard Inc. becomes Construction Longer, combining the names Longchamps and Auger. The team grows, and our well-known logo, designed by Luc Auclair, is created.

1983

First multiresidential project

First major multi-residential project: 126 housing units on D’Youville Street in Sherbrooke. A significant milestone in the development of our multi-residential expertise.

1984

First office building project

We complete our first office building project for the DULAMO Group. A new capability is added to our expertise.

1986

Place Andrew-Paton

Construction of Place Andrew-Paton, an architectural landmark in Sherbrooke. A flagship commercial project that leaves a lasting mark on the city and our journey.

1987

Entry into the grocery sector

Official entry into the grocery sector with major renovations at Provigo Rock Forest. To this day, we remain Loblaws’ longest-standing construction partner in Canada.

1994

The company grows

We move from a bungalow basement to our current offices at 175 Léger Street in Sherbrooke.

2000

Luc Auclair, president

Jean-Paul Longchamps retires and passes the presidency to Luc Auclair, who continues to manage projects until 2007.

2001

Expansion of our offices

First major expansion of our offices. Additional expansions follow in 2015, 2022, and 2026, in line with our team’s growth.

2005

Opening of our office in Brossard

Opening of our first South Shore Montreal office in Brossard to better serve our grocery sector clients. The branch remains active until 2012.

2007

Investing in the next generation

We invest in the next generation by welcoming our first interns from the Université de Sherbrooke. Today, more than a dozen interns join us each semester.

2010

First civil construction project

First civil construction project as a subcontractor. From there, our expertise in this sector continues to grow.

2011

First Provigo Le Marché

Completion of the very first Provigo Le Marché in Quebec, in Sherbrooke. A milestone project for our team.

2012

First bridge completed

Completion of our first bridge as a general contractor. A new step in our infrastructure development.

2014

Certification for complex structural construction

We obtain certification for complex structural construction, opening the door to more ambitious bridge and infrastructure projects.

2019

Pierre-Luc Auclair, president

As the company celebrates its 40th anniversary, Luc Auclair passes the presidency to Pierre-Luc Auclair. A new vision focused on innovation and transforming the construction industry begins.

2020

Creation of the Site Advisory Committee

Creation of the Site Advisory Committee. Unique in its kind, it brings together field expertise from across our business sectors.

2022

Largest public contract

We are awarded our largest public contract to date, the Precision Health and Translational Research Pavilion at the Université de Sherbrooke.

2023

B Corp Certification

We become the first general contractor in Quebec to achieve B Corp certification, recognizing our commitment to social, environmental, and human impact.

2025

Longer becomes HUDL

A new era begins. Construction Longer becomes HUDL, a name that reflects who we are, brings us together, and embodies our collaborative culture.

2026

Logistics Center Opening

We acquire the neighboring building and open our logistics center, further strengthening support for our field teams.
